A stalemate remains in Tonga after an announcement last week from the Privy Council that King Tupou VI was withdrawing confidence in the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Defence.
But the government, through acting Prime Minister Samiu Vaipulu announced, its advice was the decision as to who occupies ministries is not the King’s to make, but rather the government’s.
