Attacks from Australia’s deadliest creatures could soon be neutralised with a new antidote

Australia is home to many of the world’s deadliest creatures. But the venom from some of our most fearsome snakes and jellyfish could soon be neutralised by new technology.

The plan was revealed to Yahoo News by a Sydney University researcher who has just discovered a new antidote to treat cobra bites — a species of snake that takes a high toll on populations in India and Africa.

They discovered a cheap blood thinning drug that’s already widely available called heparin can be used to treat necrosis in human cells and mice. The decision…
